Once again, the sheer volume of blogging tools out there can be quite overwhelming! A site like WeblogMatrix can be very helpful, because it allows you to set up a matrix to compare the features of the blogs you are interested in.

 

But how do I know which to compare? Let me show you an example using two very popular tools, Blogger and WordPress (Alisa Cooper at SMCC recommended these at a podcasting workshop, saying that Blogger would be simpler to use, but WordPress would allow you to do more fancy stuff. I'm paraphrasing, of course, but keep that in mind as you look at the comparison matrix):

 

NOTE: Take a look at another nice feature of WeblogMatrix -- you can take "redundant" features out of the comparison by hiding any characteristics that are the same. This way the differences between the tools are much more marked:
